The Executives

Lots of changes to the Executives this year...

 Here is your 2017 Executive team

John Lovelace, Founder & Chairman

Since 1979, Century Flight Club Chairman; John Lovelace has logged flights to over 250 Canadian airports and towns in every province and territory in Canada. He is the recipient of awards from both the B.C. Aviation Council and the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association.

 

John has also created and produced the longest running aviation TV series in Canada, Wings Over Canada. He also created The Aviators TV series, currently in production for PBS.

 

Today, John owns and operates his own Piper Navajo, which he uses in the Real Estate business in Western Canada, and also consults for the movie industry.

Jim Moffatt, President

Jim Moffatt has been with the CFC since the first flight in 2009. Married to Lois of 34 years with 5 grandchildren, they live in the farming community of Worsley, Alberta. They are truly work, life, and flying partners. 

 

Jim is EVP of Marketing for Petro West in Alberta. 

 

He owns a pristine Cessna 182 that has been totally upgraded with a VG kit, new interior and avionics, and a new IO 550 engine with a three-blade prop. 

Victor Seder, B.C. Director

Victor Seder is the Western Canada  Director and will be assisting in the flight from Lethbridge to Nanaimo and the Mountain Flying Seminar.

Victor is the owner of Hytek Mechanical Inc. of Surrey, B.C. and has 

retired to Oliver to enjoy the good life in the South Okanagan.

 

Besides being active in the Century Flight Club, he is also the President ofThe South Okanagan Flying Club, a Pilot for CASARA and serves on the Oliver Airport Advisory Committee. He now flys a 1975 Cessna 182 P with a Robertson STOL kit, has over 800 hours and an IFR rating. 2014 will be Victors 4th flight with the Century Flight Club. 

Jeff Knight, Alberta Director

Jeff started flying as a glider pilot in 1973. In 1975 he was awarded the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Power Flying Scholarship and completed his training to Wings Standard in just 30hrs!

Today he is a commercially rated, multi-engine, IFR pilot with 40 years and 800hrs of flight experience. He works as a simulator operator at 4 Wing, Cold Lake, AB, training F-18 pilots for the RCAF.

Jeff started flying with the Century of Flight Club on the Yukon Midnight Sun Challenge in 2010 and has flown on every CFC trip since then.  As a director with the Century of Flight Club, he brings with him 28yrs of experience in the Canadian Forces, as well as his love of flying and commitment to the success of the club. He has been appointed Alberta Director to replace Jim Moffat who is the Incoming President.

Robin Fraser, Saskatchewan Director

Robin Fraser first climbed into a Cessna 150 in the winter of 1972 in Mitchinson Flying School in Saskatoon. Since then he has accumulated 

1800 hours and currently is multi engine IFR and holds a float rating.

 

Robin lives in Pambrin, Sask. He has been flying with the club since Laronge which he helped organize. He has flown all over Canada, USA, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

 

He is the organizer of our ever popular Swift Current Launches and serves as our Saskatchewan Director. 

 

He is married to Barb and they are the parents of three grown children.

Ron Haslam, Ontario Director

Ron has over 1000 hours, is IFR rated and has done several cross country flights with the club. Ron is active in the general aviation community and is a volunteer with the Young Eagles. He was also placed third as the Most Supportive Male Pilot for Women of Aviation Worldwide.

 

He is a successful entrepreneur and for the past 24 years has been the owner of Maximum Signs, a traffic sign manufacturer in Pontypool, Ontario. Ron uses his Piper Arrow extensively for business in Ontario 

summer and winter. 

 

Darryl Swenson, U.S. Director

Darryl has been a private pilot in Washington State since 1998. He has flown every Century Flight since his first flight to Prince Edward Island in 2013. He flies a Flight Design CTLS and is an amateur aerial photographer. He particularly concentrates his aerial photo work in the Four Corners area of the U.S. — Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.

 

Darryl is the president of San Juan Pilots Association. Based in Friday Harbor, Washington, the SJPA promotes island flying, education and safety for pilots, and provides scholarships for students who are interested in a career in aviation.

 

He is a retired investment advisor, and lives with his wife, Carol, in Friday Harbor, Washington - a ten minute flight from the Canadian border. Darryl is an advocate for cross-border flying between our two great nations. Barriers to free and easy cross-border flying have gone up after 9/11. He advocates for breaking down these barriers through frequent cross-border flights. The more you do it, the easier it becomes.

 

Whitney Hammond, Director
for the Women in Aviation 

Whitney Hammond was inspired by a Century Flight member to join the club and fly out to B.C. with the group.

 

She purchased a new 172 with a glass cockpit and made it out to the coast  and back home to Toronto with ease, picking up years of experience along the way. But for those who know Whitney there is no surprise. She is a self made woman. 

 

As owner of Sovereign Wealth Management,  since 1997 she has built trusting, inter-generational relationships with her clients. Whitney is a recognized leader in the Canadian financial planning field and a frequent speaker at events focusing on estate planning.

 

She has brought energy and humour to the club and will be a big asset. 

Georgia Primar, Administration

Georgia works as a licensed Realtor and is John Lovelace's Business partner specializing in the sale of large acreages in B.C.
 

In the 2014 she won the CFC President's Award for her outstanding contribution in the management of the event in Nanaimo. This winter she will help with the organizing details and for 2015 and will be making the flight to Ottawa in July.

 

Georgia lives in Ladner, B.C. with her husband, Rob and their two children Ella and Max. 

Lois Moffatt, Registrar

Lois is the General Manager of Jim Moffatt Construction, which is active in road building and oil field construction. 

 

Lois and Jim own a pristine Cessna 182 that has been totally 

upgraded with a VG kit, new interior and avionics, and a new IO 550 engine with a three-blade prop.

 

With 5 grandchildren together, they are truly work, life, and flying partners.

Tyler Kosick, B.C. Coordinator

Tyler resides on a quarter section of land just outside Fort St. John, BC with his wife Angela and their 3 children. They truly enjoy everything outdoors from farming, camping to river boating and of course flying.

 

Tyler is a multi-engine IFR rated pilot flying a Piper Navajo, Cessna 177 Cardinal and a Piper Super Cub on tundra tires and skis. Born and raised in FSJ when not working on the farm or auctioneering, Tyler is employed by TCL, a 3rd generation trucking and construction company that just joined the Petrowest group. Tyler and his family truly look forward to being a part of the Fort St. John stop in 2016!

 

Nick Ilchuck will join as a B.C. Coordinator at large to add depth to the West Coast presence.

Jennifer Bowen, Website Manager

Jennifer manages the Century Flight office through various tasks: responding to member inquiries, updating the website, and producing the monthly newsletters and official guide.
